A Los Angeles police officer accused of assaulting two men he erroneously believed were responsible for the theft of his truck has been found guilty on two counts of unnecessary use of force and three other internal charges after a department Board of Rights hearing. Officer Dixon Tew, 40, a 14-year veteran assigned to the Juvenile Division narcotics detail, is facing a six-month suspension for the Sept. 4 assault on two employees at a South Alvarado Street auto body shop. Police spokesman Cmdr. William Booth said two other officers have been disciplined without a Board of Rights hearing for their part in the assault. Tew and the other two officers, Alejandro Rosales, 40, and David P. McGowan, 38, also are facing criminal charges in connection with the assault.
