Ukiah City Council members told city officials to find irrigation land where sewer water could be used and to begin work soon on a new holding pond to avoid dumping treated sewage into the Russian River, where the city of Santa Rosa already has discarded 750 millions gallons of waste water. State water officials had warned Ukiah that it could face court action if it did not find a quick solution to the problem of brimming sewage ponds so it could refrain from illegal dumping into the river.
