Ex-Neb. Atty. Gen. Sentenced

LINCOLN, Neb. —
A former state attorney general convicted of lying about his dealings with a bank official was sentenced today to three years probation and a $25,000 fine.
Paul Douglas, 57, who was convicted Dec. 14 of perjuring himself before a legislative committee investigating the collapse of Commonwealth Savings Co. of Lincoln, said he was relieved by the sentence imposed by District Judge Jeffre Cheuvront. Douglas, who could have been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, continued to maintain his innocence.
