Sports DIGEST : Sullivan Returning Home to Northridge Sans Staples, Season

It was a sad, short season for Denver Gold safety Tom Sullivan. The United States Football League player is already coming home to Northridge.

He tore up ligaments in his knee in the Gold’s first game, Feb. 24, against Oakland. An operation left him with staples in his leg that will be removed Saturday. He will come home on Sunday.

Mary Sullivan, the former Crespi High star’s mother, said her son is “doing all right.”

She said he doesn’t talk much about the pain or about the likelihood that he will miss the rest of the season. But, she added, “I just know he’s very disappointed.”
