State Championships--Cerritos College is the site of the first California Community College Athletic Assn. women’s state basketball finals. The event, which begins this afternoon, runs through Saturday. This is the first time since women’s basketball was sanctioned by the state in 1979 that a women’s state championship could be held. Previously, only regional tournaments were held because leagues in Northern California played a fall schedule, while teams from Southern California opted for the spring.
