Recycling Center to Open:Laguna Beach’s first recycling center will open today at the corner of Woodland Drive and Laguna Canyon Frontage Road. The public can sell newspapers back for 1 1/2 cents per pound ($1.50 for a three-foot stack) and 25 cents per pound (about 25 to 35 cans) for aluminum cans. Hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. An opening ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. today. Members of the city’s energy and environment committee, along with representatives of the center’s operator, Garden State Paper Co. Inc., will attend.
