Five Pepperdine Swimmers Qualify for Finals

In the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. swimming championships, Pepperdine qualified five men for the NCAA Championships on March 28-30 at Austin, Tex.
Pepperdine sophomore Peter Rohde led the way, winning the 200-meter individual medley in 1:49.43 and the 100 freestyle in 44.36 and placing second in the 200 freestyle in 1:38.59.
Senior Breet Beedle won the 200 breaststroke for the fourth straight year, finishing in 2:01.96 and finished second in both the 100 breaststroke (56.34) and the 200 individual medley (1:52.70). Sophomore Daniel Malone qualified with a first in the 50 freestyle in 20.84.
Also qualifying was the 400 freestyle relay team of Rohde, Malone, Scott Grasmoen and Victor de la Vega, who turned in a best time of 3:00.08.
