A member of the Reunion Arena security force said Saturday night that Oklahoma guard Tim McCalister threw a paper cup full of water in the face of official Hank Armstrong following the Sooners’ 63-61 loss to Memphis State in the NCAA Midwest Regional championship.

The incident came moments after the game as the three officials who worked the contest were being escorted off the floor to their locker room.

The security official, who asked not to be identified, said a member of the security staff asked Armstrong if he wished to press charges against McCalister.

Armstrong said he would include the incident as part of his report on the game.

McCalister left the arena with his Sooner teammates.

The Oklahoma player apparently was upset over a controversial “non-call” in the final seconds of the game that cost Oklahoma a chance to gain possession of the ball and perhaps tie the contest.

Memphis State guard Andre Turner appeared to have carried the ball with 12 seconds left and Oklahoma trailing by two points, but no violation was called.
