The 1949 movie “A Letter to Three Wives,” which starred Jeanne Crain, Linda Darnell and Ann Sothern, is being remade for NBC. The new version, due to air next season, will star Loni Anderson, Michele Lee and Stephanie Zimbalist. It’s about three wives who learn in a letter that one of their husbands has left them for another woman.

NBC’s “Today” show will be broadcasting from Rome this week in observance of Holy Week. On Monday, anchors Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley will telecast from the Colosseum. The Tuesday and Wednesday programs will originate from the Spanish Steps, and Thursday’s and Friday’s will be based at St. Peter’s Square.

Richard Crenna will star in an unusual movie for ABC next season. Entitled “The Rape of Richard Beck,” it’s about a police detective who is insensitive to the plight of rape victims until he is himself the victim of a sexual attack. Others in the cast include Meredith Baxter Birney and Pat Hingle.

CBS has set April 21 as the telecast date for “Malice in Wonderland,” a TV movie about Hollywood’s two most famous gossip columnists. Elizabeth Taylor plays Louella Parsons and Jane Alexander portrays Hedda Hopper.

Briefly noted: Adrian Zmed, who plays Vince Romano on “T.J. Hooker,” has been signed to host “Dance Fever” next season. . . . The CBS soap opera “As the World Turns” celebrates its 29th anniversary on Tuesday. It was TV’s first half-hour serial when it debuted in 1956.

Disneyland has made a grant of $30,000 to KOCE-TV Channel 50 in Huntington Beach to continue production of “Jim Cooper’s Orange County” through the end of the year. The weekly series examines issues affecting the area. Cooper is vice president of community affairs at KOCE, a public TV station.

Margot Kidder and David Ackroyd enact a bitter marital split in “First Strike on Sycamore Lane,” a TV movie that CBS plans to broadcast next season. James Farentino also stars as a new romantic interest for Kidder, who is left with three children and the shell of a house after Ackroyd moves out with all of their possessions.
