A paraplegic 69-year-old San Marcos man who killed his wife and brother-in-law was sentenced Friday to 17 years to life in state prison. Henry Grady Reed was given a second 17-years-to-life term, but Vista Superior Court Judge Don Martinson ordered that it run concurrently with the first term. Reed pleaded guilty March 4 to two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Mae Reed, 77, and Carl Pisor, 77, who were hit by shotgun blasts Aug. 6 in the Reeds’ mobile home. The slayings followed the separation of Mae Reed from her husband. Mae Reed was moving out her belongings from their trailer in the San Marcos Mobile Estates when she was killed.
