Naturally, He’d Grow Up to Be Just Like Vinnie
I thought I would add another bit of evidence as to the magic and power of Vin Scully. When I was pregnant with my son 19 years ago, I used to relax by listening to the Dodgers, with my transistor radio propped up against my stomach. As soon as my son was able to speak, he was announcing imaginary baseball games, just like Vinnie.
My son went on to play both baseball and basketball and is now a sophomore at UC Davis, where he is the public-address announcer at basketball games. His ambition is to be a sports announcer like you know who. Maybe, instead of coming through the genes, it came through the transistor.
