Kathryn Crosby’s Offer to Reconsider on Pro-Am Rebuffed
The foundation that ran the Bing Crosby National Pro-Am said today that it would stand by its “solid commitment” to AT&T; despite Kathryn Crosby’s offer to reconsider cutting the family’s ties to the golf tournament if it turned down phone company sponsorship.
Kathryn Crosby said she was disappointed by the foundation’s decision, noting that the tournament could make more money for charity and golf purses by accepting pledges of support from other individuals and companies that didn’t demand that their names be attached to the tournament’s title.
Deane Beman, director of the PGA Tour, said at the tour’s headquarters in Ponte Vedra, Fla., that he would leave decisions on the future of the Crosby to the Monterey Peninsula Golf Foundation, which runs the event.
