Cal State Fullerton’s Debbie Mygind pitched a perfect game in the opener and won the nightcap in relief Friday as the top-ranked Titans swept a Western Collegiate Athletic Assn. doubleheader from host San Diego State, 3-0 and 3-2.

Mygind struck out seven in the opener and retired all 21 hitters to face her. Fullerton scored one run in the fourth inning when Terri Oberg singled and rounded the bases on two throwing errors. In the fifth, Oberg tripled in the final two Titan runs.

In the nightcap, Fullerton rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat the Aztecs, 3-2. Robin Goodin’s sacrifice fly scored the winning run, and Mygind (22-3), who worked two innings in relief of Susan LeFebvre, got the win.

The two victories improved Fullerton’s conference record to 10-0 and overall record to 44-7.

In community college action:

Santa Ana 3, Fullerton 1--The Dons scored three unearned runs in the sixth and beat the Hornets in a key South Coast Conference game at Santa Ana. The victory moved second-place Santa Ana (8-2 in conference) within one and a half games of first-place Fullerton (10-1).

Fullerton led, 1-0, going into the sixth when losing pitcher Lisa Fresquez (19-5) walked two batters. She was replaced by Lisa Walzcy. The first batter Walzcy faced, winning pitcher Alani Silva (17-1), lined a ball to center field that was misplayed for an error, allowing two runs to score. Chris Makimoto’s suicide squeeze bunt then scored Silva with the Dons’ final run.

Golden West 3, Orange Coast 1--Kim Brown hit a home run in the fifth inning to lead the Rustler to the SCC victory.

The home run was only Brown’s third hit in conference and eighth hit of the season.

Golden West (5-6, 13-14) got two runs in the fourth, including Jill Bellamy’s RBI single. Lisa Houghton was the winning pitcher. She allowed seven hits and struck out two. The Pirates are 5-5 in conference.
