Capistrano Valley Wins Weightlifting Title

Brian Blutreich of Capistrano Valley High School led the Cougars to the eighth annual South Orange County Weightlifting Invitational title Sunday at Capistrano Valley.
Blutreich, known for his exploits in track and field, is also a heavyweight division lifter and Sunday he was named the superlifter of the meet by lifting a combined total of 920 pounds. That total is combined from the bench press and the squat and is also 673 pounds more than his body weight.
Capistrano Valley won the meet with 20 points, followed by Esperanza with 18 and Mater Dei with 14.
