Fire Cuts Off Phone Service for 75,000
A small electrical fire at the Anaheim call routing office of Pacific Bell caused a three-hour disruption in telephone service for 75,000 Orange County customers Friday, a company spokesman said.
Steve Gould said the fire at 12:30 p.m. destroyed a power distribution panel and affected 11 exchanges in the central and northern sections of the county. Customers were unable to call out or into the 11 exchanges until service was restored.
