Express Struggles On, Plays at Oakland Today
There seems no hope, no hype nor any help in sight, but still the Los Angeles Express plays on. Searching long and hard for a reason to believe, the Express will play the Oakland Invaders at 3 p.m. today at the Oakland-Alamenda County Coliseum.
The Express is 3-8. The Invaders are 7-3-1. The Invaders defeated the Express earlier this year at the Coliseum, 30-6.
Three Express players left the field on stretchers in last week’s 24-14 loss to the Tampa Bay Bandits, and there are only 38 healthy players for today’s game.
Running back Mel Gray (concussion, sprained knee) is listed as doubtful for today, defensive lineman Clay Ruyle (neck injury) may be back in two weeks, and tight end Gordon Hudson (broken arm) is out for the season.
