Border Patrol agents arrested 743 people in a six-day crackdown on undocumented workers traveling a heavily-used section of Interstate 5 through the Grapevine. The operation was timed to interrupt the heavy spring flow of farm workers heading for jobs north of Los Angeles, said Harold Ezell, regional commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Agents seized 27 vehicles, four weapons and two pounds of marijuana. Most of those taken into custody were Mexican citizens, Ezell said. All will be returned to their homelands, he said.
