Councilmen are considering adding new city entrance signs and increased parking for the library to a list of projects in Monterey Park to be funded under the federal Community Development Block Grant program. Other projects, proposed by the city staff and the Monterey Park Community Relations and Neighborhood Improvement Commission, include $60,000 to help the Girls and Boys Club construct a new building, $15,000 to improve the Garvey Ranch Park Museum, $17,000 for the Neighborhood Watch program, $331,000 for residential rehabilitation and $307,000 for commercial improvements. The city will have $1.1 million available in block grant funds for the next fiscal year. The council will decide how to spend the money at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. May 28.
