Chief’s Crown Draws No. 3 Post
Chief’s Crown drew the No. 3 post position and was installed as the early 8-5 favorite today over 10 other 3-year-olds for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes. Eternal Prince, the early second choice at 5-2, will break from the No. 4 hole.
If all 11 go in the 1 3/16-mile race at Pimlico Race Course, the Preakness will be worth a record $545,700, with $423,200 going to the winner. Kentucky Derby winner Spend a Buck is skipping the Preakness to shoot for a $2.6-million payday in the Jersey Derby on May 27 at Garden State Park.
