Breland Scores First Knockout as a Pro; Taylor and Biggs Are Also Quick Winners

Mark Breland, the Olympic welterweight champion, scored his first knockout as a professional Friday night, stopping Vince Dunfee in the second round at Caesars Tahoe.

Two other Olympic gold medalists, lightweight Meldrick Taylor and heavyweight Tyrell Biggs, also made short work of their foes.

Taylor, the Olympic featherweight champion, stopped Nery Reyes in the first round to run his record to 5-0 with four knockouts, while Biggs stopped Grady Daniels in the second and is now 3-0 with two knockouts.

The 6-2 Breland, who had scored 73 knockouts in compiling a 110-1 amateur record, had gone the distance in his first three pro fights, scoring three six-round decisions.

Two Olympic silver medalists also fought on the card, heavyweight Francisco Damiani of Italy stopping Larry Roberson in the first round and junior-lightweight Luis Ortiz of Puerto Rico losing on a majority decision to Henry Lugo.
