Chapman College’s tradition of “re-graduating” the class of 50 years earlier along with the current graduating class was carried out once again Sunday afternoon on the sunken lawn in front of the campus’ Memorial Hall in Orange, as the class of 1935 marched alongside the class of 1985. The official school flag was unveiled and carried for the first time at this 125th commencement ceremony.

Degrees: 785 undergraduate diplomas were awarded, including 350 graduate degrees.

Speakers: Mary S. Metz, president of Mills College in San Francisco, spoke on “The New Academic Revolution: The Practicality of Liberal Arts.”

Honorary Degrees: Mary S. Metz, Doctor of Laws: “Dr. Metz is clearly among the nation’s leading voices calling for truly distinctive undergraduate learning,” Chapman President G.T. Smith said.
