Armando Joseph Liberati, who disappeared for 21 years after he allegedly killed his estranged wife’s lover outside her Los Feliz apartment, was ordered to stand trial after a brief preliminary hearing. Prosecutors called Liberati’s former wife, Mary Ann Carter--who was also stabbed in the September, 1964, attack--to the witness stand at the hearing before Los Angeles Municipal Judge Marion L. Obera. Liberati, 65, was arrested last month in Philadelphia, where he had lived for at least 17 years under an assumed name.
