The body of a San Marcos man who disappeared while hunting in northwestern Montana last fall was found over the weekend by two Flathead National Forest employees, authorities said.

The man’s body apparently had been buried in deep snow after he disappeared in the Bob Marshall Wilderness area last Oct. 25, Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Rhodes said.

The man was identified as Glen Carr, 46. He was discovered by Forest Service employees Stan Clark and Ruth Carapella Sunday night near a forest lookout in the Spotted Bear Ranger District.

District Ranger Dave Owens said the pair spotted a red backpack Carr was wearing. His body was found at an elevation of 7,140 feet, about 1 1/2 miles from where his horse was found last fall.

Carr was the subject of an extensive 14-day search last fall, and Rhodes said he had planned to resume the search next weekend. He said Carr’s body surfaced from the melting snow 7-to-10 days before it was found.
