The California Jaycees announced that it will relocate its headquarters to Fontana. Charles L. Cassy, president of the national Jaycees, said that the 18,000-member California organization would move by July from its present headquarters in San Jose to a temporary 8,000-square-foot building. Cassy said the move had been contemplated for several months and that Fontana had submitted the best proposal among competing cities. He said the new site was attractive because the San Bernardino County city is in one of the state’s fastest-growing areas. “I think this is one of the finest things to happen to this city,” Fontana Mayor Nathan Simon said. The Jaycees will lease the temporary site for $1 a year before eventually building permanent offices in Fontana.
