San Diego police Tuesday reported a rash of burglaries involving cars parked in San Ysidro, and urged motorists to lock valuables in the trunks of their automobiles before visiting Tijuana.

Police spokesman Bill Robinson said that about 70 cars in San Ysidro have been burglarized since April 20, resulting in losses totaling about $20,000. Nearly all of the autos were parked on a bridge in the 4700 block of Camino De La Plaza and in a parking lot in the 700 block of Camiones Way.
