To accommodate repair work on several downtown Los Angeles streets, the Southern California Rapid Transit District this week began rerouting several lines from Spring Street to Main Street that run north to the San Fernando Valley.

The changes, affecting nearly 4,000 daily riders who take northbound routes from 9th to 1st streets, will be in effect for 18 months, an RTD spokeswoman said. Time schedules of the altered bus routes will not change, and southbound bus lines will remain the same.

Also unaffected will be riders who board northbound buses on Spring Street in front of City Hall and the Federal Building.
