The City Council has approved a $13.3-million budget for 1985-86, a 15% increase over last year’s. Among the largest expenditures will be $3.4 million for street repairs, sewer and storm drain improvements and upgrading of city parks. City Manager Len Wood said Claremont has experienced a “moderate surge” in growth over the past year, including the addition of several new businesses which broadened the city sales tax base.
