Two Killed in Plane Crash
A single-engine Cessna 150 crashed at Santa Barbara Municipal Airport, killing both people on board, said Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputy Tom Nelson. Santa Barbara Deputy Coroner Larry Gilles identified the victims as Thomas Pilcher, 24, of Valencia, and Paul Eastman, 28, of Mission Viejo. Both had been living recently in Isla Vista. National Transportation and Safety Board Investigator Audrey Schutte said the plane crashed shortly after takeoff on the main runway. Schutte said the pilot called Flight Services, requesting airport advisories, then called again and asked for altimeter settings before taking off. Schutte said the cause of the crash was not yet known.
