Local News in Brief : Repairs Under Way on Interstate 5 in Newhall
Reconstruction of a deteriorating three-mile section of Interstate 5 in Newhall is under way, and completion is expected by the end of the year, a California Department of Transportation spokeswoman said.
The $1.25-million project includes repaving and installation of steel median barriers, Patricia Reid said.
The section under repair lies south of Calgrove Boulevard and north of the intersection of the freeway with California 14.
“The area gets heavy truck traffic, and the pavement has been breaking up in recent years,” Reid said.
