TeamTennis : Buds Lose Second Straight Match, 30-21
The Miami Beach Breakers, using their home clay courts to their advantage, handed the San Diego Buds their second straight loss, 30-21, Sunday.
“They really cleaned our clocks,” said Bud Coach Larry Willens, whose team fell to 6-4. “They are much too good on those clay courts. It’s going to be hard for anybody to beat them there.”
Miami Beach (6-3) won the first four sets to open a 24-14 lead, then clinched the victory in overtime when Steve Meister and Van Winitsky defeated Todd Nelson and Butch Walts. The San Diego pair had won the final match of the day, 6-5, to force the overtime, which Miami Beach won in the second game.
