Raiders Waive Campbell
Rich Campbell, a former star quarterback at Cal who was acquired last spring from the Green Bay Packers, was waived Monday by the Raiders.
Campbell, a No. 3 quarterback for his entire stay in Green Bay, played well in the Raider scrimmages against the Dallas Cowboys last week.
But he was eclipsed by rookie Rusty Hilger, the No. 6 selection from Oklahoma State, who reported to camp late, but impressed the Raiders’ staff.
Coach Tom Flores said he was cutting Campbell early to make it easier for him to contact another team.
