Raiders : Team’s Only Public Workout of Season Is Today at Oxnard
The Raiders will hold their family day, their only public workout of the season, today at noon at Oxnard High School.
This will be their first in four years. Before that, it was an annual event at Santa Rosa, drawing crowds as large as 10,000. Fans will be allowed on the field with players for pictures and autographs.
Raider Notes Details of Marcus’ Allen’s renegotiated contract, according to a Raider source: It’s a total package of $3.75 million for four years, including a signing bonus of $500,000. This year’s salary is $500,000. Allen won’t discuss the contract, and his agent, Ed Hookstratten, has been unavailable. . . . The Raiders signed Dan Hurley, a 6-foot 3-inch, 275-pound offensive guard from Nebraska, who was just released, along with the rest of the roster, by Portland of the United States Football League. The Raiders released linebackers Moe Bias of Illinois and Steve Lubischer of Boston College, and Dan Gazzaniga, a tackle from UC Davis. . . . The Raiders will play a simulated game this morning in a session closed to the public. After family day, the players will be off until a meeting Sunday night.
