Johnny Collins of Chicago, using overhand rights, scored a second-round TKO over previously unbeaten Mark Holmes, the younger brother of unbeaten heavyweight champion Larry Holmes, at Scranton, Pa. The win gave Collins the vacant United States Boxing Assn. middleweight championship.
Collins, 159 3/4, twice sent Holmes, 158 3/4, to the canvas in the second round. Collins’ record is 32-1-1 with 29 knockouts. Holmes is 32-1.
