Paper Carrier Saves Fire Victim
A newspaper carrier who saw smoke inside a residence at Leisure World in Laguna Hills at 3:35 this morning forced open a door and rescued an 87-year-old woman, authorities said.
William A. Barron, 40, a Los Angeles Times carrier for three years, also woke others in the complex, according to Orange County Fire Department spokesman Patrick Antrim. Lucille Hollingsworth, who suffered smoke inhalation and first- and second-degree burns, is in serious condition, Antrim said, and her home was 80% destroyed.
