A lawsuit against Jalisco Mexican Products Inc. by Crocker National Bank has been dropped after Jalisco agreed to pay off a $152,000 loan by turning over proceeds from the sale of delivery trucks. The Artesia maker of Mexican-style soft cheeses shut down in June when the potentially deadly bacteria Listeria monocytogenes were discovered in its products. It remains under criminal investigation by the district attorney’s office, although company officials have denied any wrongdoing. So far this year, more than 250 people have become ill in California from the bacteria, and 85 of them have died. A number of product liability claims have been filed against the company since the epidemic.
