Rare Rhino Born at L.A. Zoo
A rare Indian rhinoceros at the Los Angeles Zoo gave birth Sunday to a 90-pound infant after a record-setting 515-day pregnancy, zoo officials announced today. There are between 1,100 and 1,600 Indian rhinoceroses alive, and only 10 zoos in the nation have the species on exhibit, she said.
