Suspect Arrested: It was a summer rerun, Costa Mesa police said, and the alleged burglar fared no better the second time than he did the first. Alerted by a silent alarm at 3:28 a.m. Sunday, police officers waited outside the closed El Ranchito Restaurant at 2101 Placentia Ave. A man came out, literally into their arms, and was arrested on suspicion of trying to steal a video recorder. “He’d been convicted in October, 1984, for burglary in the same restaurant,” said a Costa Mesa officer on Sunday. “He was on probation for that conviction.” The suspect was identified as Jerry Allen Reis, 31, of Laguna Hills. He was booked on suspicion of burglary.
