Krytron Defendant Vanishes
Richard Smyth, a Huntington Beach engineer accused by the U.S. government of illegally shipping krytron nuclear triggering devices to Israel, failed to appear in federal court today for his trial, marking his seventh day as a fugitive. Smyth’s wife, Emilie, also is missing.
U.S. Atty. William Fahey said federal agents, the U.S. Customs Service, Interpol and other agencies are looking for Smyth, 55, president of Milco International Inc. of Huntington Beach. The Smyths’ Oldsmobile also is missing.
