The Region : 2 Small Planes Collide but Land Safely
Two single-engine light airplanes landed safely after colliding in the air over the San Fernando Valley. Federal Aviation Administration authorities said a Beechcraft Bonanza with two people on board landed at Van Nuys Airport after suffering minor damage to one wing. A Cessna 172 with four people on board lost its vertical stablizer but was able to land safely at Burbank Airport. The missing portion of the stabilizer fell to earth harmlessly near a busy intersection in Glendale.
