A fully clothed, intact skeleton was discovered in the cliffs in Palisades Park on Sunday morning, police said. The unidentified body was found lying face down about 50 feet above the Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica Detective Shane Talbot said.

The person may have died anywhere from six months to a year ago, he said. The skeleton was clothed in jeans, a shirt and leg warmers, but police said they found no other possessions nearby.

Although the county coroner’s office had not determined the cause of death by Tuesday, Talbot said the victim probably fell while standing at the edge of the cliffs.

A low concrete fence surrounds the area and signs are posted warning visitors to away from the edge, he said.

Au autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death and the identity of the person, a spokesman from the coroner’s office said.
