Laguna Considers New Parking Plan
The Laguna Beach City Council will consider a plan Tuesday that would give residents an extra hour of free parking in the mornings by changing the hour that motorists must begin feeding parking meters from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The proposal, which has met with approval from downtown merchants, would help local shop owners by allowing residents an extra hour in the morning to patronize their businesses, said Terry Brandt, director of municipal services. Moreover, the city would not lose any parking revenues, Brandt said, because under the plan, nighttime free parking would be moved back an hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
