Gas Station Curbs Voted: San Juan Capistrano has become the fifth Orange County city to ban the sale of alcoholic beverages at gas stations. The City Council this week unanimously approved an ordinance that will take effect in early October. Although the city has no gasoline station mini-marts, city officials said they want to prevent any future establishments from selling beer, wine or liquor. Fountain Valley, Newport Beach, Orange and Seal Beach have approved similar bans. Yorba Linda, Westminster, Anaheim, Brea and Laguna Beach are considering similar laws. Supporters of the ordinance say sales of alcoholic beverages at gas stations contribute to drunken driving.
