About 900 runners and 400 walkers participated in the first annual “5/10 K Run, Walkathon and Celebration” to commemorate West Hollywood’s first year as a city, said Tom Proctor, race director. The event drew 1,700 people and helped raise about $100,000 for three Los Angeles organizations fighting AIDS--the AIDS Project L.A., Shanti Foundation and Aid for AIDS. The 10-K event was won by Carrillo Victor, 22, with a time of 31 minutes, 28 seconds.
