A 5-year-old Walnut girl who had been the object of a massive police search since the weekend was found in a motel in Inglewood and police arrested a man and a baby sitter who had been taking care of the child. Sheriff’s deputies said Daria Williams was in good condition and was reunited with her mother after she was found in a motel room with William Newman, 28. He was arrested by Hawthorne police who found the baby sitter, Gail Catreese Turner, 21, outside the motel, Deputy Dave Hogan said. Hogan said a secretary at the Hawthorne Police Department saw the child’s picture in news reports and gave officers information that led them to the Encore Motel in the 3600 block of Imperial Highway. Both Newman and Turner were booked on suspicion of child stealing, a felony. Bail was set at $5,000 each. The child’s family lives in the same Walnut apartment complex as Turner.
