The passenger on a motorcycle who was killed early Monday when the vehicle slammed into the rear of a flatbed construction truck on a closed portion of the Costa Mesa Freeway has been identified as Kimberly Beidleman, 22, who had no known address, a county deputy coroner said.

Beidleman was riding on a motorcycle driven by James Readinger, 25, of Santa Ana, who also was killed when the cycle collided with the truck near Lincoln Avenue in Orange, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident occurred on an eight-mile stretch of the freeway that has been closed during the late night and early morning hours for resurfacing.

An article in Wednesday’s edition of The Times incorrectly stated that Kathleen R. Powers, 25, of Newport Beach, was the passenger on the motorcycle. Powers was killed early Monday while driving a pickup truck that crashed into the rear of a construction truck on the closed freeway.
