Draft Resister Leaves Prison

LOMPOC, Calif. —
Benjamin Sasway, the first man jailed since the Vietnam era for refusing to register with the Selective Service, was released today from a federal prison camp after serving six months of a 2 1/2-year sentence, authorities said.
Sasway, 24, was picked up at the Lompoc federal prison camp by his parents. His attorney, Charles Bumer of San Diego, said Sasway’s release on parole contains no special provisions. “For the time being, I think he intends to return to college full time,” the lawyer said.
