Relief pitcher Bruce Sutter of the Atlanta Braves is returning home from the team’s six-game trip for tests to determine the source of shoulder pain that may have brought his season to a premature end.
Sutter is to have an arthrogram, a process in which dye is injected into a joint to detect injuries that would normally not show up on X-rays.

Wine said that Mahler (17-14) will probably start Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds.
