Ermolenko Captures Scratch Bike Event

Sam Ermolenko of Cypress won the four-lap scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program before 6,788 in the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa Friday night.
Ed Castro of Santa Ana won the handicap main event and Ron Preston of El Centro won a special old timers’ scratch main event.
In a special match race, former two-time world champion Bruce Penhall defeated seven-time U.S. champion Mike Bast.
