A van carrying at least 10 people, eight of whom were illegal aliens, crashed early Saturday into a home in the 900 block of Picador Boulevard in the South Bay area, injuring nine people, police said.

The driver of the van and one passenger ran from the scene of the crash, a police spokesman said.

The driver apparently lost control of the van about 3 a.m. Saturday and slammed into the front door of a condominium.

Two victims from the van were taken by Life Flight to UC San Diego Medical Center, where they were listed in moderate condition.

Four passengers were taken to Chula Vista Community Hospital, and three were taken to Bay General Hospital.
