Volleyball Roundup : SDSU Falls After 2-Game Lead Over UCLA
San Diego State’s women’s volleyball team had a two-game lead over UCLA in the quarterfinals of the National Invitational Women’s Volleyball Tournament, but lost to the Bruins, 10-15, 12-15, 15-8, 15-7, 15-11, Friday night at Pauley Pavilion.
The No. 12 Aztecs thus fell to the consolation section of the championship division of the tournament. They face Arizona at 11 this morning.
Earlier Friday, SDSU lost to No. 7 Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 15-9, 15-8, and beat Oregon, 15-13, 15-13.
In other action:
UC San Diego in Colorado College Tournament--UC San Diego won two of three matches in the tournament and is ranked sixth in the event entering today’s play at Colorado Springs, Colo.
UCSD (12-11) beat St. Mary’s of the Plains, 15-8, 15-6, in its first match; lost to the University of Southern Colorado, 15-9, 10-15, 6-15, and rebounded to beat Central College of Iowa, 15-8, 15-6. UCSD is the 12th ranked NCAA Division 3.
